Aspiring Musicians at HSDC

Updated: Feb 25, 2021

Introduction

At HSDC South Downs campus, there are plenty of opportunities for aspiring musicians to gain experience, skills and qualifications in order to pursue a career in the music industry. Music is a very popular area of study at HSDC South Downs, with numerous courses exploring all areas of music, and events run across the year by AMP.

Music Facilities

Music students at HSDC have access to a selection of music facilities, with two recording studios and multiple rehearsal rooms located at the South Downs campus. The recording studios are designed to give students the full recording experience,

with musicians able to use these studios to record anything from a quick one mic demo recording to a full release standard multi track production. The two studios are well equipped with top quality recording products from well known brands such as Universal Audio, PMC, JBL, and many more. Our rehearsal rooms are also well equipped with everything needed for students to enjoy practicing their favourite music. The rooms are already kitted out with PA systems, mics, amps, keyboards and drums, ready for students to turn up and jam!

Music Courses

HSDC South Downs hosts numerous music related courses, dedicated to developing

students’ skills and abilities in different aspects of music from performance

to production. The courses offered include Music A-Level, music performance,

a full time level 2 diploma course, and music production, a full time course which can be studied as a level 2 diploma or UAL level 3 extended diploma. Higher level students can attend Professional music performance or production, both are full time UAL level 4 diplomas, designed for students ready to enter the music industry.

Music Events

Music students along with other creative students are able to engage in various events run by AMP. In the past, AMP has run successful events at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, where they had their own stage, allowing young musicians and bands studying at south downs or elsewhere locally to perform at the festival.
